Wodson Park Sports & Recreation Centre (Registered Charity)
Sited just on the north edge of the town, Wodson Park Sport & Recreation Centre offers
a very wide range of sporting activities both indoors and outside. There is an eight
lane athletics track, an all weather astro turf pitch, a rugby pitch and a pitch
for occasional football, all floodlit. All the halls, courts and pitches are available
for public hire, for use for social or sporting events; there are clubs for the different
sports one can join, and there is a very well equipped fitness room, with training
available. There is a studio for aerobics, dance, martial arts and table tennis.

The cafe provides lunches & snacks and the Wadesmill Suite consists of a dance floor
& two bars and is flexible in size for weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties,

Athletics
Herts. Phoenix Athletics Club is very active and uses the Wodson Park Sports & Recreation Centre as its home base.
Basketball
An outdoor basketball court can be found in the Priory Grounds. Operated by Ware Town Council it is free of charge and accessible throughout the year.
Bowls
There is a first class Bowling Green situated in The Priory Grounds which is operated by Ware Bowls Club, but also available for public use.
Cricket
Hoe Lane, Ware is the home of the Ware Cricket Club and Allenbury's Cricket team play at Park Road, Ware.
Fishing
During the season it is possible to fish along the river Lea towpath, Fishing Rights are owned by British Waterways (for this area) who lease these rights to Lee Anglers Consortium. It is they who are responsible for issuing the day passes and managing this area of river. Further details available from David Fussell of the Ware Angling Club. Football
The Ware Football Club play at Wodson Park, Wadesmill Road Tel: 01920 463247. Ware Lions (youth) also play at Wodson Park and Ware Youth play on their own pitches in Fanhams Hall Road, Ware.
Golf
There are a number of clubs within close reach of Ware. The most local is on the south side of Ware, Chadwell Springs (9 holes). Tel 01920 463647/462075
Whitehills Golf Centre is at Dane End, near Ware; East Herts. Golf Club (18 holes) is at Hamels Park, Hanbury Manor Hotel, (Thundridge), Brickendon Grange Golf & Country Club (Hertford) and Great Hadham Club & Driving Range (Bishop's Stortford).
Gyms
Fanshawe Pool has a fully equipped fitness centre, located in Park Road and operated by East Herts. District Council. There is also a gym at Wodson Park Sports & Recreation Centre Tel: 01920 487091.
Putting
The putting green is open daily, in the Priory Grounds, from noon until dusk from May to the last Saturday in September.
Rugby
The Hertford Rugby Football Club operates from Hoe Lane; it runs several sides at weekends, with midweek floodlit games, and mini rugby facilities. There are two courts for Squash here. The Old Hertfordians Association Sports Club.
